Dr. Jacob Narverud Composer-In-Residence
The semester is flying by and all the choirs are busy putting final musical elements in place as we prepare for our Composer-in-Residence week with Dr. Jacob Narverud. Dr. Narverud is an American composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist. He is a sought-after composer who has been commissioned to write new works for over fifty choral organizations nationwide,as well as ensembles in Australia and Japan.
The TCAPS Vocal Department Composer-in-Residence is possible due to a generous bequest from Mr. Bill Engle, a long time TC Music Booster. Dr. Jacob Narverud composed a piece of music for us and we invited him to work with our students March 6-10 during class time. The culminating concert will be given on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00 PM at Corson Auditorium on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts. This concert will feature collaborative performances by our TCAPS secondary choral students, featuring:
Central High School Bel Canto, Choral-Aires, and Chorale
East Middle School Chamber Choir
West Middle School Madrigals
West Senior High School Bel Canto
West Senior High School Choral-Aires and Chorale
